From Rio to the World Stage
In the heart of the most dangerous slums of Rio de Janeiro, twin brothers grew up the sunny slums of Niteroi. Their days filled with soccer, laughter, beaches and wonder. But this fairytale land was juxtaposed against a world of violence, poverty, and despair. Growing up in the favelas, their house lacked running water, every morning they would walk nearly one mile with buckets to the nearest well. They grew up without pillows, barefoot, many days they went without food. Some days felt like a battle for survival amidst the violent drug trade that exists in that reality. Yet, in the midst of this chaos, they found something that would change their lives forever.
Their father, a hard working luthier, handcrafted two violins by hand—two instruments that would carry them out of that reality.
Those instruments became more than music. They became possibility.
Through classical training, relentless practice, and a deep belief that joy could be stronger than circumstance, the Twins began performing with a local orchestra at age 13. What started as survival and discipline slowly became a path to stages, events, and audiences they had once only imagined.
Their story was later featured on NPR, which helped lead to full-ride music scholarships in the United States — opening the door to a new chapter and a global career.
